Useful travel apps

Before a travel day, put the ticket, arrival address and contact beside the map you can open without data. A few tools with clear jobs are more useful than a phone full of travel apps. Save what you need while connected, then try opening it offline.

A Centrotrans ticket you can reach offline

Centrotrans’s app announcement describes intercity ticket searches, purchases and phone QR tickets, with purchased tickets available offline. Follow the operator’s store links. Before leaving Wi-Fi, open the ticket you will show at boarding.

Keep the departure, boarding point and booking conditions with it, and enough battery for boarding. Offline access to a purchased ticket does not mean you can buy or change one without a connection. It also does not make that ticket valid on another operator or on a city bus.

Flight updates and mobile usage

Sarajevo Airport’s Smart Airport page provides its app-store signposts. The airport-linked Google Play listing describes flight information and change alerts. Keep the airline’s booking and messages alongside it: the airline settles an altered departure or travel instruction.

BH Telecom’s Moj BH Telecom description covers usage, top-up history and mobile options, with publisher-linked stores. If you use its SIM, establish account access while connected. The connectivity guide covers package and activation choices separately from the app.

A map that covers the journey

Google’s Android help gives Profile → Offline maps → Select your own map for saving an area. Download the whole drive while connected, where that option is available. An area saved around Mostar does not cover the road there from Sarajevo unless the full route lies inside it.

Offline Google Maps lacks walking, public-transport and cycling directions, as well as traffic and alternative driving routes. Save the stop names and entrance address for a city journey while online. The maps guide compares that limitation with walking maps and imported tracks.

Translation for the ordinary arrival

If you use a translation app, try the language and any offline function before relying on it. Keep the original address beside its translation. For a room entrance or pickup, the booking’s exact street address and written time are more useful than a translated landmark alone.

An exhibition guide for one visit

At Sarajevo’s War Childhood Museum, visitors scan the on-site QR code for a mobile guide. The museum lists ten languages: English, Bosnian, Italian, Turkish, French, Chinese, Polish, Arabic, Spanish and German. It is a guide to that exhibition; the venue does not describe it as an offline city app.

Keep the ticket, arrival address and contact easy to find together. A written address and charging cable are useful backups. The language guide gives short questions you can show; save emergency contacts before the journey too.
