Where to stay in Sarajevo

Begin with the Sarajevo you want to spend time in: the bazaar and river corridor, residential neighbourhoods, Ilidža or the mountain setting of Trebević. A room near the places you will visit leaves more of the day for the city. Compare the daily journeys, then the room and arrival arrangements.

Find your part of Sarajevo

Start with the area that fits your visit. Compare the neighbourhood facts below, then check the address and room details.

Compare Sarajevo areas

Choose the area before narrowing the search to a hotel. These choices cover different parts of the city and different reasons for staying.

Baščaršija and the riverside
begin with the bazaar when the old quarter is the focus of a short visit. Check the route from the vehicle drop to the room, especially for a pedestrian-zone address.
Latin Bridge to Skenderija
compare addresses along this central river corridor when your plans span more than the bazaar. Plot the places you will visit and the bridge crossings you will use.
Marijin Dvor and Wilson’s Promenade
consider this side of the centre for the museum quarter, shopping and river walks. Check whether the property is by the commercial centre or farther along the promenade.
Grbavica and Čengić Vila
include these residential-area searches when comparing a longer stay. Work out the daily journey from each address. Grbavica also gives the search local landmarks in its stadium and Wilson’s Promenade.
Ciglane and Koševo
compare the particular street with your event, appointment or sightseeing plans. Ciglane has changes of level, so check the entrance and approach. A Koševo street address beside Veliki Park is a different location from a stay chosen for the Koševo stadium.
Bistrik and Vratnik
compare these separately for historic neighbourhood surroundings. Bistrik extends behind the Emperor’s Mosque; Vratnik is reached uphill from Baščaršija through Kovači. Check the climb and final approach to the chosen room.
Ilidža and the Vrelo Bosne approach
consider this base when the tree-lined avenue and river-source landscape are part of your plans. Compare the address with both Ilidža and the city visits you want to make.
Trebević
choose a mountain stay when time on the mountain belongs in the trip. Establish the property’s access and your return transport before planning city evenings. Check the cable-car operator separately for any journey you intend to make.

Three ways to place your stay

Koševo · a base near Veliki Park

A Koševo address near Veliki Park gives you a different starting point from a room inside the bazaar. Put the entrance on your map alongside the places you plan to visit, including the journey back after dinner.

If you are driving, establish whether the offer includes a reserved parking space or relies on public parking nearby. For a room in an older building, ask about the stairs and lift to the actual floor you will use.

Vrbanja · near Sarajevo City Center

Around Vrbanja and Sarajevo City Center, compare the address with your shopping, museum and river-walk plans. Decide how often you expect to travel to Baščaršija and whether that journey suits the pace of your stay.

If you expect to spend time at the accommodation, look closely at what the room and price include. For two people sharing, check the beds; for a separate bedroom and sitting room, ask for the suite layout. A pool, restaurant or car park in a property description needs its own access, hours and price details.

Let the arrival work with the room

For one or two nights focused on the old quarter, start with Baščaršija and the river corridor. For a longer stay or a visit built around a particular place, compare the wider areas above. Let the journeys you will make each day and the evenings you want help decide.

A late flight is easier to plan once you know when the room can be entered and where the keys are collected. Discuss steps and bathroom needs for the room you will reserve. The Sarajevo parking and tram guides help with the wider arrival. For an airport-transfer enquiry, give the final address and any key-collection instructions.

Once you have a preferred part of the city, prepare an accommodation request with Visit BiH stay planning. Compare the room layout and arrival arrangements alongside the address.
