Five places to build a trip around

Sarajevo, Mostar, Una country, Jajce and Trebinje each give a first trip a different centre of interest. Choose the place that fits the holiday you want. The suggested nights show what a stay can contain before you add the journey to the next place.

Four days or a first week

Four days around one base can give you arrival, a main visit, another local day and departure. The Sarajevo–Mostar outline instead introduces two cities: it exchanges the local second day for moving south. Its three nights finish in Mostar, so a Sarajevo departure needs a different return arrangement.

For a slower first week, two bases leave more time within each place. The classic seven-day route offers the more varied alternative, with nights in Sarajevo, Travnik, Jajce and Mostar. Those four overnight towns suit travellers who enjoy moving. Use My Trip to keep your preferred pace and the places you most want to visit together. You can review and download the plan; it does not send an enquiry or make a booking.

The five choices

Sarajevo: several city stories within one stay

Sebilj and Baščaršija lead into copper-working Kazandžiluk and a Bravadžiluk meal, then the Miljacka around Vijećnica. The Sarajevo 1878–1918 museum brings the Austro-Hungarian period and the 1914 assassination into focus. Two nights give an arrival evening and a full city day; another museum or a Trebević outing belongs to extra time.

Mostar: the bridge quarter and domestic heritage

The Old Bridge and Kujundžiluk’s crafts give the city day its setting; Biščević House adds Ottoman domestic interiors as another subject. Two nights leave a full city day after arrival. A Blagaj outing to the Buna spring and tekija merits a further day, with the interior or religious-site visit arranged for that date.

Una country: two distinct waterfall days

Three Bihać nights can give you arrival, Štrbački buk, Martin Brod, then departure. Martin Brod includes Milančev buk and the bučnica, the traditional water-powered washing attraction. For Štrbački buk, the park’s published Ćelije approach excludes large coaches; the entrance and vehicle belong together in the plan.

Jajce: water and political history

The town waterfall and an AVNOJ museum visit bring two subjects into one stay. The museum explains the 1943 session and its decisions. Two nights leave a full town day; extra time can take you to Veliko and Malo Pliva lakes and the traditional watermills, outside the centre.

Trebinje: a town evening and a cellar choice

The Museum of Herzegovina at Stari Grad 59, a walk beside the Trebišnjica and a pause under the central plane trees can fill your day in Trebinje. Two nights leave time for that day after arrival. With another day, Tvrdoš, about 5 km west, is a separate monastery outing. For a wine visit, confirm the tasting address and appointment with the producer.
