National parks and protected areas

For a park day, put a named entrance or meeting point into the journey. Una’s waterfalls, Hutovo Blato’s Karaotok boat departure, Kozara’s Mrakovica and Sutjeska’s forest visits use different tickets, routes and permissions. An ordinary admission ticket cannot settle every activity.

Una · put the entrance into the journey

For Štrbački buk, Una identifies entrance 3, Ćelije, reached from Orašac on an 8 km paved-and-gravel road. Its stated vehicle limit covers cars, motorcycles and minibuses up to 35 seats, excluding large coaches. Local Orašac–Štrbački buk–Orašac group transport is separate from admission.

For Martin Brod, use entrance 5 at Milančev buk. Lučica gives a picnic location; Martina staza and Put pod gredu are separate walking interests to discuss with the park. Give the driver the agreed pickup place and return, as well as the entrance.

Una · standard adult admission in 2026

2026 season Štrbački buk Martin Brod Combined ticket
January, February, December 8 KM 5.50 KM 10 KM
March, April, November 12 KM 7 KM 15 KM
May, June, September, October 16 KM 8.50 KM 20 KM
July, August 20 KM 10 KM 25 KM

The table gives standard individual adult prices for 2026. The combined ticket covers Štrbački buk and Milančev buk; other ages and eligibility categories appear in the official tariff. Keep admission, local transport and rafting separate in the budget unless the agreed offer explicitly combines them.

Hutovo Blato · a boat day from Karaotok

Hutovo Blato’s published boat circuit boards at Karaotok, follows the Sunce canal, Krupa and Lopoča, and returns in about an hour. The 2026 tariff lists regular departures at 11:00 and 13:00. Arrive at Karaotok in time for the departure agreed with the park.

The adult base ticket costs a published 5 KM for parking, entry and designated educational paths, and is required beside other activities. A regular boat ride is another 20 KM. The 25 KM all-in option adds the interpretation centre and scheduled boat ride; the 50 KM family ticket covers two adults and two children.

Groups using boats must notify the park by the day before. Contacts are +387 36 814 716, +387 63 721 535 and info@hutovo-blato.ba. Agree the actual departure and party arrangements with the park; a published timetable does not reserve places.

Swimming, picnics and cameras in Una

Una limits swimming to designated locations while visitor zones are open. It prohibits swimming within 50 metres upstream or downstream of waterfalls, walking on tufa barriers and bathing in its other rivers. A riverside stay does not create a permitted swimming place.

In Una, dogs must be on a lead and camping is restricted to designated sites. The FAQ identifies raised grills in the specified upper Štrbački buk area and Lučica at Martin Brod. Use the permitted place and current fire restrictions, keep to paths and take litter away.

Ask the park about the permission required for a commercial shoot or drone proposal before accepting a location. Ordinary entry does not supply that approval, and park consent is separate from aviation rules.

Fishing · the permit belongs to the sector

Una’s 2026 fishing decision lists daily, three-day and five-day permits at Kulen Vakuf’s Unska bb info point, entrance 5 in Martin Brod and the information centre on 5. Korpusa in Bihać, opposite the post office. Begin with the sector and fishing method, then obtain its permit.

For Martin Brod’s fly-fishing sector, the decision gives 1 May–31 October 2026 with catch-and-release and barbless hooks. Other sectors use different dates and methods. Obtain the permitted hours for your day from the park, carry the permit and ID, and report to the ranger service after fishing.

A guided activity needs its own arrangement

The rafting guide helps name the section, skipper, equipment, suitability and return. Your insurance must cover the planned activity. A waterfall viewpoint and a river outing are different decisions, even within one park.

Save the entrance directions, room address and transport contact offline. For a pickup, agree a reachable entrance or settlement as the meeting place. The waterfall name alone is too broad for the return.

Kozara, Sutjeska and Drina have their own plans

For Kozara, Mrakovica puts the memorial and woodland routes together, with the park information centre as the place to discuss tickets and guides. A circular walk and a one-way route need different return arrangements.

In Sutjeska, choose a Tjentište memorial visit, Prijevor outing or authorised Perućica forest visit. The park requires advance approval and authorised park staff for the protected forest. Give Una and Sutjeska separate travel days; do not plan Štrbački buk before lunch and Prijevor the same evening.

For Drina, discuss the viewpoint or activity around Skelani and the Perućac landscape with the park. Its maps give protected-area context. Obtain the actual approach and permissions before arranging transport, especially for a boat activity near the international boundary.

Pack for the route, and leave the park quietly

Take water, food, weather protection, footwear for the route and a saved offline plan. Keep to permitted roads and paths, follow closures and avoid shortcuts suggested by navigation. For off-road walks, arrange an experienced local guide and use the rural precautions.

Fire, pets, camping, off-road vehicles and filming need the rules of the park you visit. Do not assume that an Una picnic permission applies in Kozara or Sutjeska. Leave wildlife, plants and stones undisturbed, with litter carried out.

For a guided park day, prepare an experience request with the route and group. A stay outline should include the entrance needed for an early start.
