Plan my trip

Krajina and the Una

Krajina can be a river holiday with town evenings, or a route that changes base as the interest changes. Bihać works for an Una park day; Bosanska Krupa brings a fortress and river islands into town; Banja Luka pairs city culture with the Vrbas countryside.

Bihać and the upper Una

Start your stay in Bihać with a walk taking in Fethija, St Anthony’s surviving tower and Gradska otoka. The Djevojka sa Une sculpture brings the centre’s history back to the river. Keep the next day for a chosen park visitor area.

Štrbački buk makes a waterfall-led outing. Martin Brod offers cascades at the Unac–Una confluence and Rmanj Monastery; Kulen Vakuf can be a settlement stop or a different evening base. The Una guide separates the approaches, so each drive has a definite destination.

For three days here, a Bihać afternoon, Štrbački buk day and Martin Brod day give the places room. Rafting can replace a waterfall day or extend the stay; squeezing it into the same departure schedule makes the day depend on an uncertain finish.

An extra heritage outing can take you towards Cazin for Ostrožac rather than another river day. The Cazin tourism site offers a virtual tour of the fortress and a visitor contact. Use that contact for physical admission on your date and ask which interiors you can visit.

Bosanska Krupa · fortress and islands

The municipality-linked tourism site identifies Pset fortress and the Una’s small islands, the ade, as town attractions. Start with the fortress setting, then use the river islands for a pause on a bench and a different view of town.

This can be a town-and-river day without a swim or kayak rental. Those activities need their own current conditions. The fortress approach and island bridges also deserve a closer look if steps or uneven ground affect your group.

Banja Luka · art, then Krupa na Vrbasu

Banja Luka offers a different base: a Kastel-to-centre walk and the Museum of Contemporary Art in the former railway station. The museum’s early collection grew from artworks donated after the 1969 earthquake, giving the cultural stop a particular connection to the city.

For a day out of town, the city tourism organisation places Krupa na Vrbasu about 25 km south, with Krupa waterfalls and watermills. Use its full name when arranging the trip: Bosanska Krupa is a different town, not the same outing.

Kozara’s Mrakovica memorial is a separate forest-and-history day. Its Second World War context gives that outing another purpose; make it an alternative to Krupa na Vrbasu.

A base for each part of the holiday

For a two-day break, one town and its chosen outside outing is enough. With more time, a change from an Una base to Banja Luka can make the journey part of the route. Give the move its own space instead of returning across the region each evening.

The Bihać stay guide and riverside collection compare a city evening with an out-of-town room. If you want transport between bases and a park day, put both legs into the request so the vehicle and receiving address fit each.

Add the town or valley area you prefer and your room requirements to a stay outline. A guided river day is a different enquiry: prepare an experience request with the actual river section and return journey included in the proposed plan.

If you choose to drive between your base and the park visitor areas, use the car-hire guide before preparing a car-hire request. Check the approach to each planned stop.
