Sarajevo Airport to your stay

The airport bus reaches Baščaršija/Bentbaša at the old-town end of Sarajevo. A taxi or arranged pickup can take you towards the room address. Compare the final leg with your bags as well as the fare, especially for an evening landing or a stay beyond the city.

The airport bus: old-town endpoint and tickets

The airport timetable labels the city endpoint “Baščaršija / City Center”; Centrotrans calls it Baščaršija/Bentbaša. This is the old-town end, rather than the Sarajevo City Center shopping complex. Compare that stop with the room entrance: a lower fare can still leave another ride or a walk with luggage.

Centrotrans’s 15 August 2025 route notice describes tickets sold by the driver or through CentroCard. Check the fare and payment options for your departure; do not assume that a bank card is accepted on board. The airport’s linked timetable distinguishes weekday and weekend departures, so read the day notes as well as the clock time.

The airport has previously directed passengers to a marked stop at the Terminal B exit. Its linked timetable has no boarding map, so ask the terminal information desk for the current Centrotrans stop before taking your bags outside.

Airport taxis: understand the meter

For an arrival taxi, use the airport’s taxi information and the terminal desk to locate the current rank. Give the complete address and establish the charging basis. “Sarajevo centre” cannot identify either the final stop or a single fare.

The airport’s published tariff for Sarajevo-taxi association members, effective from 30 March 2026, gives a 3.50 KM starting charge, 2.30 KM per kilometre, 23 KM per hour of waiting and 5 KM per piece of luggage. It says an agreed fare may not exceed the meter price, with a receipt issued on request. Ask for the total fare to your address.

The tariff adds 30% for domestic journeys outside Sarajevo Canton, with tolls paid by the customer. For an onward trip, agree the complete price and payment method before departure rather than applying a city taxi estimate to another town.

Give the address, as well as the flight

For Baščaršija or another historic area, ask the property where the vehicle can stop and how to reach the entrance with bags. Settle key collection for the expected arrival. The room address is more useful than the neighbourhood alone.

In a pickup enquiry, include the flight number, arrival date and expected local time, full destination, passengers and bags. Add a return, requested stop, large equipment, child-seat or access need. The reply should explain the vehicle and arrangements for those details.

Know the meeting and waiting arrangements

An agreed pickup needs a named operator, airport meeting point and drop-off, suitable seating and luggage space, the total price and inclusions. Waiting, flight-delay and change terms should be written beside a travel-day contact. A child-seat or access request needs a specific vehicle answer.

The waiting terms should explain a late landing, slow baggage collection or difficulty finding the driver. Keep the meeting instructions with the contact. An enquiry or quote becomes a booked pickup only through explicit confirmation of the agreed arrangement.

Going straight to Mostar?

If you want to continue privately from the airport to Mostar, give Mostar as the destination in the same enquiry. For a public intercity service, baggage collection and the ride to the station sit between landing and departure. The tickets are separate connections.

The Sarajevo–Mostar guide compares road options, links rail planning and explains what a Konjic sightseeing stop changes. A first night in Sarajevo may fit better if the onward connection is too tight.

Keep the first night within reach

Save the confirmed meeting instructions, room address and both contacts offline. If the flight or destination changes, use the agreed transport contact and update the property. Late key collection needs an answer from the accommodation as well as the driver.

The return to the airport

For a return pickup, give the departure flight and the address you will leave from. Agree a pickup time around the airline’s reporting requirement, luggage and any assistance arrangement. A bus return needs its own timetable row and a plan for reaching the stop.

For access needs, describe boarding and whether you transfer from a wheelchair to a seat. Put the handover from airport assistance to the vehicle into the request. If hiring later, use the driving-document guide before collection.
