Una National Park

A waterfall day at Štrbački buk, the cascades and settlement at Martin Brod, or an evening around Kulen Vakuf: Una has several reasons to linger. Bihać works as a city base; a night further into the valley changes the next morning’s journey. Give each waterfall area its own time before adding more to the route.

Štrbački buk · the waterfall day

The park describes Štrbački buk as a 24.5-metre waterfall formed with tufa deposits. Give the viewing paths time: the overall fall, water crossing the rock and smaller details reward different looks. It can be the main outing from a Bihać base.

The most accessible passenger-vehicle approach in the park’s FAQ is entrance 3, Ćelije, from Orašac. It describes 8 km of mixed paved and gravel road, suitable for cars, motorcycles and minibuses up to 35 seats. Large coaches are excluded. Check current road conditions with the park before travelling.

Martin Brod · cascades and village life

At Martin Brod, the Unac joins the Una and Milančev buk belongs to a wider cascade system through the settlement. Rmanj Monastery and the water-powered bučnica washing feature give the visit other subjects. Their visiting arrangements are separate from simply reaching the waterfall.

Lučica, near entrance 5, gives a picnic a named place within the visit. The park also lists Martina staza and Put pod gredu as walking interests. Their names are a starting point for discussing the route with the park, especially when surfaces or distance affect your party.

Kulen Vakuf · a settlement in the park

Kulen Vakuf’s historic centre grew around an artificial island-like setting on the Una. Sultan Ahmed Mosque remains part of the settlement; Ostrovica and the Havala remains stand on opposite sides of the river. A town visit or evening here has a different character from a waterfall day.

Keep a fortress climb separate from time in the village until the approach suits your group. The park publishes a Bihać–Kulen Vakuf bus table, but it is undated: use it as a lead to discuss with the station, rather than as an assured waterfall shuttle.

Seasonal adult tickets

2026 season Štrbački buk Martin Brod Combined ticket
January, February, December 8 KM 5.50 KM 10 KM
March, April, November 12 KM 7 KM 15 KM
May, June, September, October 16 KM 8.50 KM 20 KM
July, August 20 KM 10 KM 25 KM

These are standard individual adult prices. The combined ticket covers Štrbački buk and Milančev buk. The park tariff has other age and eligibility categories; a discount needs to apply to you. Group transport from Orašac is charged separately.

One outing or two full park days

For a short city break, make Bihać the arrival afternoon and one waterfall area the next day. With two full park days, Štrbački buk followed by Martin Brod gives each its own time. The photography itinerary makes the nights and optional Kulen Vakuf stop explicit.

Stay on the visitor paths and off tufa barriers. The park limits swimming to designated Una locations while visitor zones are open, with no swimming within 50 metres above or below waterfalls or in the park’s other rivers. A rafting outing or fishing permit is a separate arrangement.

Wear shoes with grip around wet decks and rocks, and keep children close near the water. Carry water and sun protection for the paths. Check the chosen entrance’s opening and last-entry times before leaving, especially for an early or late photo visit; a seasonal ticket price does not confirm that every path or approach is open.

A Bihać evening or another heritage day

A riverfront evening in Bihać gives the city part of the trip time of its own. Ostrožac Castle near Cazin is another heritage choice in the wider region, outside the park. Visit Cazin introduces the fortress; ask its visitor organisation about access before making it the purpose of a separate outing. It need not become another stop on the waterfall day.

A river outing or time with a guide can add a different perspective to the visit. Use My Trip to note the activity and date you have in mind.

The Bihać stay guide and riverside stays help you choose between evenings in town and a base in the valley. If you prefer Kulen Vakuf, note the village and your chosen park entrance when you plan your stay.

For a self-drive visit, read the car-hire guide, then plan your car hire. If you would rather have a driver, plan a private ride. Include the park entrance and full return journey in either plan. If your coach arrives in Bihać, arrange that last leg separately; the bus guide helps with the intercity journey. Coming from Croatia, leave flexibility for the crossing and check the border guide before fixing a timed activity.
