Mostar: one day or two

For one day in Mostar, link the Old Bridge and bazaar with Kriva ćuprija, then make time for a courtyard view or a traditional house. With a second day, visit Blagaj or explore more of the city’s museums and interiors.

Follow the bazaar to the two bridges

Begin in Kujundžiluk, the old bazaar, with its cobbled lanes and shops selling copperware, pottery and jewellery. From there, cross Stari most, the Old Bridge, over the Neretva and continue to Kriva ćuprija in Jusovina.

The smaller bridge crosses the Radobolja rather than the Neretva. Together, the bazaar and two bridges give your walk a simple shape, with room for lunch and another look at the river later in the day.

A river view or a traditional interior?

For a courtyard view towards the Old Bridge, visit Koski Mehmed-pašina Mosque at Mala Tepa 16. It is also an active place of prayer; check visitor admission and conduct before entering. Ask separately about minaret access.

At Biščević House, the focus turns to Ottoman-era domestic interiors: carved woodwork, rugs and a courtyard garden. Pick the house if you would rather spend time with rooms and objects; pick the mosque courtyard for the river view. Either can round out a first day.

For a museum visit, choose the collection first

The Museum of Herzegovina covers four departments, including the Old Bridge Museum and the memorial houses of Džemal Bijedić and Svetozar Ćorović. Its collections range from archaeological finds to ethnographic objects, offering another way into the history of Mostar and Herzegovina.

Start with the Old Bridge Museum if the bridge is your main interest. For another collection or memorial house, specify the department when checking your visit. The institution is listed at Bajatova 4; confirm entrance and opening information with the department you intend to visit.

A second day: Blagaj or more of Mostar

Blagaj brings a different setting: the tekke, a religious and residential building, stands at the source of the Buna. Give the outing its own place in the day, with transport there and back arranged around the time you want at the site.

Staying in Mostar is an equally useful option. Return for the house or museum you left out on day one, and spend more time on the streets around the two bridges. Your second day does not have to be another excursion.

Where to stay and how to arrive

The old bazaar’s cobbles matter if you use a wheelchair, walking aid or pushchair. Check the specific bridge approaches and venue entrances for your needs; a central address alone does not establish step-free access.

When choosing accommodation, check its walking approach and where a vehicle can drop you and your bags. For a journey from Sarajevo, use the coach and private-transport guide; it keeps that travel choice separate from the day you want to spend in Mostar.

The Mostar stay guide helps with the area and the walk to your room. You can also prepare an accommodation request with Visit BiH stay planning.
