Places to visit in Bosnia and Herzegovina

Sarajevo and Mostar give a first visit two contrasting city settings. Bihać puts the Una at the centre of the holiday; Trebinje offers an old-town and river base in the south. The useful choice is where you want to spend a full day, then what belongs around it.

Explore beyond the city

Use the city guides for streets and sights, the regional guides for nearby outings, or the theme guides to follow an interest.

For a nature-focused visit, compare the national parks and nature parks, then choose the particular visitor area or route.

Choose a route between the cities

The four-day Sarajevo–Mostar route uses two nights in Sarajevo and one in Mostar. The classic week adds overnight stops in Travnik and Jajce, with two Sarajevo nights and two Mostar nights.

Both finish in the south. An early Sarajevo flight may mean changing the final night or extending the trip; allow for the return journey.
