Travel between cities

Take the train or coach between cities, arrange a door-to-door ride, or hire a car for stops along the way. Sarajevo to Mostar can also include time beside the old bridge in Konjic.

Coach

A coach suits a straightforward trip between towns when the departure fits your day. Allow for the journey to and from each station.

Sarajevo to Mostar, with time for Konjic

The Sarajevo–Mostar guide compares the journeys. If you would like time in Konjic, a private transfer with a stop gives you that option. By rail or coach, plan a separate onward connection.

Cost and connections

The full cost

For public transport, add the journeys to and from the stations to the fare. For a private ride, confirm whether the price covers the vehicle or each person, plus your stops and waiting. With car hire, allow for fuel, parking and any one-way return charge.

Time for connections

Leave extra time before a flight or fixed onward departure. For a group journey, agree the route, overnight stops and any arrival deadline together.

Before you buy a ticket

Railway times and tickets

For Sarajevo, Konjic, Mostar and Čapljina, check the ŽFBiH timetable and service notices for your date. Confirm the departure at your boarding station, the fare and where to buy your ticket.

Follow the railway’s current purchase instructions or ask at a station. An older online buying guide may not reflect the service available when you travel.

Coach tickets and luggage

Sarajevo’s coach station is at Put života 8, near the railway station. Allow time to reach it from your stay. Centrotrans labels its Mostar arrival MOSTAR (I); use the stop on your ticket to plan the final ride to your accommodation.

In Centrotrans’s online process, select the origin, destination, direction and travel date, then the departure. Enter the passenger details, pay and save the ticket issued. An account is optional and printing is recommended rather than compulsory. A fixed-date return reserves the return journey; an open return needs later check-in.

Luggage has a line-specific tariff, and station-service or open-return check-in charges may be additional. Bicycles and scooters need an advance enquiry about the actual bus. The coach arrival guide carries the station and final-ride detail into the first night.

Search your date and direction in Centrotrans’s Mostar journey page. Before booking, make sure the displayed departure applies to your date and has availability.

Banja Luka, Bihać and Tuzla

For Banja Luka, compare the coach departures with your area to stay. Allow separate days for the journey to Bihać and the Una waterfalls.

A coach to Tuzla arrives in the city. The airport is a further journey; the Tuzla arrival guide helps you connect the two.
