Plan my trip

Herzegovina

Mostar gives a first Herzegovina stay a city day around the Old Bridge and a separate outing to Blagaj. Stolac adds river and stone heritage, Trebinje gives the eastern part of the region its own city stay, and Konjic suits a Neretva stop. Add days for the places that interest you instead of fitting the whole region into one excursion.

Mostar · begin with a full city day

The Old Bridge and Kujundžiluk’s craft and shopping streets give Mostar its familiar centre. Cross to the other bank rather than viewing the city from one approach alone; include Jusovina and the small Kriva Ćuprija over the Radobolja. This makes a coherent first day without adding an out-of-town drive.

Biščević House offers a different view of Mostar through an Ottoman-era domestic interior. Put an interior visit alongside the bridge and streets if household history interests you. Use the Mostar guide for the city plan; admission arrangements remain specific to the house.

Blagaj · a separate short outing

Blagaj’s tekke stands beside the source of the Buna. The water setting and the religious building are the reasons to go. Give the outing its own part of the day and return to your Mostar base afterwards.

An exterior view, an interior visit and a meal are different parts of that outing. Choose the one you want to build around, then settle admission or table arrangements where they matter. Keep the rest of the day lighter if you have also made a long arrival journey.

Stolac · river streets and stećci

Stolac’s Bregava runs through the town, with stone houses and bridges below Vidoški grad. Pair the town with Radimlja’s stećci, the medieval stone tombstones, for a day that connects settlement and landscape. Boljuni is another stećci site, listed by the local heritage organisation; make it an additional stop for a particular interest in the monuments.

The Radimlja heritage organisation provides visitor information and notices. Do not treat the town’s general tourism description as admission or access arrangements for every monument. A river-side walk and a fortress approach also make different physical demands.

Waterfalls, Počitelj or a wine day

Kravica near Ljubuški gives a Mostar stay a waterfall outing on the Trebižat. Koćuša, at Veljaci on the Mlade, has a different village-and-mill setting. The waterfall guide separates the visits and their practical arrangements; seeing the falls does not require making swimming part of the day.

Počitelj is another historic-town choice in the Čapljina area. Give it time as a town visit. The regional tourism board’s Čapljina overview places it within this part of the region; access to individual buildings is a separate arrangement.

For wine, the wine-weekend outline keeps a Brotnjo outing from Mostar separate from a Trebinje cellar day. Pick one area for a short stay and arrange a non-drinking driver or transport. The tasting is an appointment with the producer, not an automatic stop at every cellar you pass.

Trebinje · stay for the city, then go out

Around the Trebišnjica, Trebinje combines an Old Town, the Museum of Herzegovina and the plane-tree setting at Platani. Give that combination a full day. A night here makes sense when you want the city evening as well as the sightseeing.

Use a second day for Tvrdoš or a winery, or for Vjetrenica near Zavala in the Ravno area. The cave’s guided visit has seasonal entry times and its own footwear and suitability advice. Give it a separate outing from your Trebinje base.

The Trebinje guide helps decide which outing earns another night. That choice is more useful than trying to tick off every place on the drive from Mostar.

Konjic · a town stop or an activity day

Konjic sits beside the Neretva, with its old stone bridge as a clear town focus. The regional tourism board also identifies rafting and Boračko Lake among the area’s attractions. A bridge-and-town stop is a different commitment from a day on the river or a lake outing.

If rafting is the reason for visiting, build the day around the operator’s meeting point, activity and return, then fit the town around it. Do not add the full activity to an already crowded journey between Sarajevo and Mostar.

A route with room to enjoy the places

For a first visit, start with a Mostar city day, give Blagaj a shorter outing and use a separate day for Stolac. Add Trebinje as another base when its city and one eastern-Herzegovina outing matter to you. Put Konjic into the Sarajevo–Mostar part of the journey, with extra time if an activity is the purpose.

For a whole-trip enquiry, name the bases and the one or two experiences you most want. The useful proposal is a sequence of nights and journeys with enough time at each place; a list of attractions alone cannot settle that route.

The Mostar and Trebinje stay guides help with the area before you settle the rooms. For guided sightseeing or an outdoor activity, prepare one experience request describing the outing you have in mind. Give the proposed outing its own time in the route.

If you choose to drive between your Herzegovina bases, use the car-hire guide before preparing a car-hire request. Keep the non-drinking driver or arranged transport in your wine-day plan.
