Plan my trip

Explore by region

Start with the region that interests you: town days in Central Bosnia, the Una around Bihać or southern heritage in Herzegovina. Set the main visits first, then the overnight bases. These guides group places by travel region.

Herzegovina: towns and heritage in the south

Herzegovina brings Mostar, Blagaj, Počitelj and Trebinje into the plan. Mostar suits the Old Bridge and nearby heritage visits; Trebinje gives its Old Town, river and surrounding outings a separate base. Moving the overnight stay south is a different trip from returning to Mostar after every visit.

Krajina: give the Una the main part of the trip

Around Bihać, the city and the Una’s park landscapes give Krajina its river focus. Štrbački buk and Martin Brod belong to separate outings, not a single city walk. Bosanska Krupa and Banja Luka offer other town-and-river directions within the wider guide. Give this region several nights when the river is the reason for travelling.

Central Bosnia: put the towns on the route

Central Bosnia is the starting point for Travnik and Jajce. Their town visits suit a route that moves between bases. The classic seven-day outline uses two Sarajevo nights, one Travnik night, one Jajce night and two Mostar nights; its final overnight base is Mostar.

Sarajevo region: keep a city base

The Sarajevo region works differently: keep Sarajevo as the base and give an outing a day of its own. Trebević, the springs at Vrelo Bosne and the Umoljani walks offer different reasons to leave the city. One outside focus suits a short stay better than trying to combine them all.

The Drina or the highlands

Eastern Bosnia and the Drina offers both river landscapes and town heritage. Višegrad’s Mehmed Paša Sokolović Bridge gives a town visit its focus; Drina National Park’s canyon and Lake Perućac call for a separate outing. Use the park’s visitor information for the entrance or river activity.

For the highlands, begin with the mountain and the purpose of the stay. A Bjelašnica walk, a Trebević visit and a Jahorina ski plan call for different accommodation and travel days. Vlašić can pair with Travnik; Blidinje brings plateau and stećak heritage into a separate mountain stay. Mountain conditions and operating seasons belong to the particular outing.

One region or a route through several

For a few nights, keep one region as the main focus. Stay in a second region when it earns another part of the trip. The stay guides help place the room; transport guidance connects the bases. For journeys and stays considered together, the complete-trip guide explains the scope of that request.

Compare weather and seasons before choosing dates, particularly when a higher route or river activity is the main reason for the trip. Use conditions guidance and the responsible organisation’s current information for that outing.
