Choose a national park
Una draws you towards waterfalls and river settlements. Kozara brings woodland walks together with remembrance at Mrakovica. In Sutjeska, the memorial valley and the mountain routes deserve different days; Drina offers the canyon and Lake Perućac in eastern Bosnia. Start with the experience you want, then give it a base and a realistic journey.

Una: give the waterfalls separate time
Štrbački buk is a different visitor area from Martin Brod. The first draws attention to the great fall and tufa landscape; the second includes Milančev buk and the bučnica, a traditional water-powered washing attraction. A longer Una stay can give each its own day, with a Bihać evening or a stay around Kulen Vakuf.
The park’s 2026 tariff separates visitor areas, seasons and ticket categories. Group transport towards Štrbački buk is additional. Rafting has its own operator and meeting point; book rafting separately.

Kozara: remembrance or a forest walk
At Mrakovica, the memorial zone and nature Info Centre give a visit two subjects. The 3.4 km Mrakovica circuit returns around the central area. It is the clearer starting point when you want a defined forest walk alongside the memorial.
The Mrakovica–Kozarački kamen route is a different undertaking: 9 km in one direction, finishing at Rajkovići. Its return needs planning. The park also identifies a short Braille trail near the memorial bungalows; check access separately for other routes.
Use the Kozara guide for those visit choices. From a Banja Luka stay, make it a separate outing.

Sutjeska: a memorial day or a mountain objective
Tjentište’s memorial complex gives the Sutjeska visit a historical focus. A Zelengora walk or another mountain objective changes the terrain, approach and amount of the day you will need. Begin with one named goal.
A named lake, viewpoint or forest route makes the mountain day easier to discuss with the park and a local guide. Snow, visibility, closures and local hazard advice can change that plan. Pack for the walking portion as well as the road journey: footwear with grip, warm and waterproof layers, water and sun protection.
For rural walks, the FCDO’s mine-awareness advice recommends an experienced guide away from roads and paved areas. Follow the park’s directions for the chosen route; a visible path alone does not establish clearance.

Drina: the lake and canyon setting
Drina National Park centres on Lake Perućac and the canyon in the Srebrenica area. A lakeside visit and a day on the water are different plans. For a boat or fishing outing, the departure place, return and permissions determine the day.

An activity needs its own plan
For rafting, a guided walking day or historical interpretation, prepare an experience request with the river, route or subject that interests you. A park ticket, an activity and the journey to its meeting point are separate arrangements. The park or activity operator remains the source for permission, equipment and the route on your date.
Turn the choice into a journey
Give the entrance, visitor area or trailhead in a transport enquiry, together with the return you need. A hire car can suit several park days; prepare a car-hire request with the planned entrances, collection point and return location.
For overnight visits, the mountain-stay guide helps compare a night near the walking start with a city base. A bed described as near a park still needs to be near the part you will visit. For an Una valley night, compare riverside stays; the wider stay guides cover the city alternatives.
Before leaving, check the chosen visitor area’s opening and last-entry times, including seasonal changes. For a journey without a car, use the bus guide for the town-to-town leg, then arrange the park entrance or trailhead and return separately.
